The Wheels on the Bus Go Rolling Off…

I guess we just had it too good and needed a reminder of how hard life can be. I’m not talking about the recession. No, our woes come from the new four-legged addition to our house named Maggie. We’ll get her settled in eventually. In the mean time, here are some pics from late winter and early spring.

Here is Seth waiting at the airport before his first trip on a plane. We made a nice weekend trip out to Cruces in February to see Grandma Peggy and Grandpa John.

The little guy continues to amaze us with all that he says and does! Sorry for the delay in the pictures. I will try to keep up with the blog a little better! Love you all!

New Family Member

Over a year and a half of Seth loving dogs has finally led us to adding a new dog to our pack. Maggie was picked up today after months of deliberation and research. She is a cockapoo, which is a cocker spaniel/poodle mix. She is currently 2 months old.

Seth was immediately thrilled to see his new friend. So far she has been very patient and playful. Here are a couple pictures including one with her all dressed up by the pet store ladies.

Holiday Madness

Sorry for the long delay in getting some updates to you guys. Life has been nothing but madness since mid-November. Enjoy the pics!

Happy (Late) Halloween!

Sorry for the delay. In addition to the holiday festivities, we (with the help of the Pickerings) have been doing some remodeling in the house. Unfortunately, Papa Earl “doesn’t do painting,” so we’ve been up to our elbows in it since they left. Anyway, let’s get to the cuteness.

Knowing that no mom would send their kid to daycare in costume, Noel made each of the kids personalized shirts to wear. Here is Seth showing his off before heading to daycare on Halloween morning.

Seth helps Papa Earl take a break from construction. How many times did he make you read that tractor book, Papa?

Finally it’s time for trick-or-treating. Unfortunately, a fluffy, padded St. Bernard puppy outfit is not very forgiving in the Texas heat. We only made it to 4 houses!

The only house that Seth would walk of his own free will to was our own, where Papa Earl answered the door to his favorite trick-or-treater. Here is Seth post-costume begging Grandma Dodo for some of her ice. He spent the rest of the evening helping mom answer the door in his T-shirt and diaper.

What can we say? Being a bookworm runs in our family!

We bought Seth a kid’s table this weekend and his current favorite pastime is climbing into the chair and applauding himself. I swear every toy he owns is more fun when he’s sitting at the table.

That’s it for now. Thanks for taking the time to look at the pictures. Please leave us comments!

Fall Time Fun!

The temperatures may be dropping (finally), but things are really picking up for Seth around our house. After a week long bout with a stomach bug, we decided we needed to celebrate a healthy kid with a trip to the pumpkin patch this weekend. Here are a few highlights from that visit, along with a couple other cute shots.

We put away the high chair tray so that Seth could join us at the table. Now we just need to teach him that putting his feet on the table is not good manners!

While he awaits a purchase of a family dog–are we really up for that one–Seth occupies a lot of his time at home “petting” Molly.

The pumpkins weren’t much of a hit at the pumpkin patch, but Seth got a kick out of the petting zoo. Here is Seth feeding a goat. What you don’t see in the picture is Seth feeding himself the goat feed instead of the goat.

No pumpkin patch trip is complete without a hay ride.

Not sure who’s doing the eating in this picture.

He used to be a total ham for the camera, but now it’s hard to get a shot with a smile. Here’s our “happy” picture amidst all the pretty pumpkins.

We were told this farm still had pumpkins on the vines, but these vines had long seen better days. Seth really wasn’t interested in the pumpkins scattered about, though. He just enjoyed walking around in the dirt.

What is it about boys and tractors?

The toy store in any room? Any drawer that is at Seth’s height.

A rare smile!

Our next post will probably include Halloween pictures, so stay tuned! Please leave comments!

Just in time to save the economy – MEGA PIC UPDATE!

We apologize for the delay in posting new pictures. We take them, but it’s hard to find time to get them online. Enjoy!

Bath time is still one of Seth’s favorite times of day!

Finally back into some jeans again, and they’re so cute with his new shoes! Check out the booboo.

I don’t like Arizona State, Dad. I want to be an NMSU Aggie!

Mom and Dad thought the Plano Balloon Festival was a snoozer–umm, less than 15 balloons–but Seth had a good time running around.

Football Sunday Seth can be found wrestling around on a pile of pillows with Dad. Let’s go Cowboys!

Straight from Italy, spaghetti facials!

As always, we love to read your comments!

Summer Days Driftin’ Away

We realize it’s been a while since our last post, but school’s back in session, so mom is back to teaching and Seth is back to daycare. We both had a little adjusting to do, but almost two weeks into it, we’re getting back in the groove–Seth probably more so than mom.

Last weekend, we broke the weekend chore monotony and treated ourselves to Cheesecake Factory for dinner/dessert. Seth loves Cheesecake Factory because they bring out a baby plate as soon as we’re seated that has pieces of bread and bananas for him to chow on. Since he got to sample our desserts, this is probably now his all-time favorite!

We ended the evening with a turn on the carousel. This time Seth rode a horse that went up and down rather than a stationary one. He was a little uncertain. Man, do we really blow it out on the weekends or what?!

Seth and I went for a walk tonight, well I walked, Seth sat in the wagon with his feet up and a glass of juice. It was super hot, so I jumped at the opportunity to run the wagon through some neighborhood sprinklers. We both got soaked! Here is Seth stripped down at home. I don’t know if he’s ever looked more devilish!

Well, back to work. Please leave a comment!

Happy Birthday, Little Buddy!

Seth’s 1st birthday weekend celebration was a blast! It’s hard to believe the little guy has been in our lives for a year already, but I can’t imagine how we ever got by without him.

For some reason, other people’s beds are so much fun to roll around in. At least in this photo he has clothes on–you might want to wash those sheets, Grandma Dodo!

No trip to Kingsland is complete without a boat ride. Seth may have somewhat mastered walking on land, but his sea legs still have lots of room for improvement!

Hopefully he’ll get the hang of this before Christmas rolls around!

Instead of the old paper cone hat, we opted for a more humiliating felt cake hat. You had to be quick to get a picture of it on his head–good job, Aunt Nat!

After seeing the tradition at several other 1st birthday parties, Daddy decided to bake Seth a special smash cake. It took the little guy a while to dig in, but soon icing was flying!

He’s all smiles after eating the most sugar he’s ever had in his life!

On our last night in Kingsland, we ate dinner at Chili’s in Marble Falls. We braved the heat on the patio to enjoy the beautiful lake view, but the real sight was Seth eating pizza for the first time.

Mom and Dad’s big birthday gift for our little monster was a red wagon. We tried it out last week when temps. dropped into the 90s (bearable). Seth loves having a 360-degree view of the neighborhood and feeling like a big boy!

Thank you to everyone who brought/sent gifts and for all of your love and support through our first year of parenthood!

Walker, Texas Walker

Texas villains beware! Seth is the new sheriff in town and his bow-legged gait strikes fear in the heart of all criminals, or at least those who walk slowly.

It’s not Mt. Everest, but Seth’s early b-day present from Grandma Peggy and Grandpa John will get him one step closer to base camp.

All the water toys in the world could not equal the enjoyment of the hose. Here Seth helps Dad cool down in this endless 100+ heat.

With the cost of healthcare on the rise, we figured it was time to start training Seth for taking care of us in our later years! No, really he’s made Great Grandma JoAnn’s wheelchair one of his new favorite toys!

We made a quick trip to Lubbock to visit the great grandparents. Here is the 4-generation shot.

Move over Picasso. If Seth will quit eating the paint long enough to put some on paper, he could really make a name for himself!

When Grandma Peggy bought Seth the pink shirt, she insisted he wear it with navy blue shorts. Here is proof that we listened, for once. He also shows off his new standing prowess.

Seth’s room gets a toddler makeover, complete with a new play corner.

Based on his growth rate, this may be the only time Seth has any success at gymnastics. He had an awesome time at Gracie’s Little Gym birthday party.
